Ideas for Crit 3

1) Basic Floor Plan...

Here's the basic floor plan for the event. It includes Painting, Music, and Poetry zones where you can experience individual stories and artwork.

Right next to each of their zones are card holders for individual artists which can be taken to the collaboration table to create their own experience... only 3 cards are allowed at the table at at time...

These cards contain one image representing their artwork and on the back they an RFID tag or URL for the Surface table to read. Which one does the table read?

The surface table allows the collabs to take place in whatever combination they choose.

Afterwards...create your own collaboration for a personalized mobile experience!
2. Separate card for available for donation.

After the participants have experienced the "Manual Collaboration Zone" they choose their top 3 collaborators and purchase their cards for a donation to their NGO of choice.

I will create a 3 slot book for them to slide the cards into with a hole in the back that allows the Semacode to be read. Semacode now has a relationship with Facebook that I'd like to exploit.

Please tell me if this is possible...
I would like to assign an individual Semacode to each art piece, then create a mobile application so that when you photograph the code for Artist 1...

...that would begin the Facebook program (downloaded) on your phone.
It then prompts you to scan the code for Artist 2...

...then Artist 3.

Afterward, their virtual collaboration would pop up on your cellphone utilizing the concept used for the Surface table collaborations.

I know this sounds like a lot of stuff but I know a couple of people who offered to help. One is a videographer who can edit one groups video session and the other is a programmer... I'll have to ask if he knows what programs to use for Facebook Apps... Do you know? Thanks Chris!

Hello there,

Sorry, I thought you were coming in on Tuesday still over the break. I just posted all of my stills for the proposed system.

I want to limit each group to 3 collaborators per group with/in a topic. That way it's less confusing- who to pair with who and why- and the focus goes directly to the artist to artist collaborative effort. This also prevents information overload for say the 5th + artist in line. I've found that artist 3 already has a big challenge of responding to two artists and still attempting to have a say in it all.

I should be finished with the 1st group of 3 on Tuesday. I should have enough info to at least show how things can go with a full collaboration. We'll see :) if I have time to respond to the actual music/visual combo. In the meantime I'm experimenting with placeholder data.

I've had a few other thoughts on how this collab could continue after the exhibition. I'm thinking of luring visitors with artist cards to a website where they can create their own combos and also connect with the artists. I will hold back on pursuing this for now but it's a possibility.

Another idea that I had was to create an interactive documentary available online that would connect the artist stories by video tagging. There would be points during Artist A's interview when the image of Artist B would appear and link participants to a point in their interview where they discuss a similar topic to where Artist A left off and so on. That way it would allow a space where diverse ideas can readily be observed, compared, and taken in.

Please, if you get a chance (I know it's a bit late) let me know what you think.

Take care and enjoy the break,
Ebony

Pg.1 Topic intro. Color coded topics

We chose Fam/Traditions
Now we will go to the Profile of Eesuu...

Here You have the ability to continue to check him out or go directly to his collaborative Fam/Trad Group 1. We'll do that later. Let's go check out Eesuu's art.

Here we get a full detail view of Eesuu's work. Camera pans 180 degrees around the painting and also zooms in for details and texture.

If he were a poet we would hear his words and see his words. If he were a musician we would hear his music and watch him play.

Now on to Eesuu's story...

This Story will be shared Documentary style. As he speaks about imp moments images will coincide with it. This will provide insight into his influences, life, community.

Now we will click the bottom L tab to gain access directly to the group interpretation and collaboration.

Here You are able to hear each artist's interpretation of the work of their counterparts. You can reverse the direction to hear the artist in before them reply to the one afterward and vice versa.

Here is the grand finale. Here you are able to experience their full collaboration. You are able to experience the words with the music while also experiencing a rich visual experience with the actual art piece, words, and supportive images. Silhouettes of the poet Close Up speaking. Percussion beats mixed with the full colors and texture of the visual art provided.
